My shift yesterday felt like a really challenging shift. One of those shifts where it feels like everything goes wrong from the start. The whole routine was falling behind and random things kept going wrong. I had a pounding headache all day and it felt like most of the work was left to me and another newly qualified nurse. We got through the day but I have never been as glad to leave a shift. It honestly was the type of shift that made me question my abilities and worth as a nurse. I ended up going to my ward sister and talking through my concerns and how I was feeling. She was great at talking through them and was very reassuring.
