Last night was my second night being nurse in charge and thankfully it was a really settled night. I definitely didn’t feel as anxious as when I did my first night in charge. We ended up having a lot of staff on so a few got sent to other units with less staff. I coordinated the breaks and sorted all the files we needed during the night, did the usual progress notes and safety huddle. All in all it was a quiet night and nothing really happened, which I will not complain about in the slightest. It gave me time to check over the nurses stations and clinical room and make sure they were clean and tidy, and it let me get some online training done. It was a very quick handover in the morning and it meant night staff got out right on time.
